Lisa

I began as Music Director in May of 2013. On Sunday I accompany worship on the piano and organ. Each week I plan the music for worship, direct the handbell choir, singing choir, and coordinate with other musicians to play or sing throughout the year.

I earned a Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) with an emphasis in flute and piano pedagogy from the University of Central Oklahoma. After returning to U.C.O. for more training in organ and clarinet, I began a graduate program. As of May 2021, I received a master’s degree in Collaborative Piano and Woodwind Pedagogy, also from the University of Central Oklahoma.

I have been blessed to be involved with church work since 1986 and love praising the Lord Jesus Christ through music. Previous I have served as a church pianist/organist for the following churches: First Southern Baptist Church/Guthrie, First United Methodist Church/Guthrie, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church/Oklahoma City, Saint Mary’s Catholic Church/Guthrie. In addition to the First United Presbyterian Church, I also currently serve Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church/Crescent.

Outside of church work, I enjoy sharing music with others through teaching either in my independent studio or school band programs. I love playing music in many situations such as: musical theatre, flute choir, accompanying musicians in recitals and contests, etc. I am so grateful to be here at the First United Presbyterian Church/Guthrie serving God through music.
