Church History
April 21, 1889 Presbyterians gathered to worship in Ark City, Kansas and plan a church in the new territory. The next day was land run day, April 22, 1889. We officially chartered on June 9, 1889.
Reverend Katrina Richardson
Rev. Katrina Richardson accepted the call at First United Presbyterian Church in November, 2021. She grew up in Guthrie, OK, and it is where she met her husband, Billy and they started their family. She attended the University of Central OK on scholarship, receiving a B.A. in Political Science. While finishing up her B.A., she began working for FUPC as a secretary and became a member of the congregation.
After a few years in social work with Logan County, she and her family moved to Dubuque, IA where she earned a Master of Divinity degree from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. She was an active Wendt Character Scholar and a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship.
After graduation, she worked as the Associate Pastor at both First Congregational Church UCC in Dubuque, IA and First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue, IA, completed 3 units of Clinical Pastoral Education, and was a Chaplain for MercyOne Medical Center.
Currently, she is enjoying life back in her hometown of Guthrie, OK on her family’s tiny ranch that is home to 2 donkeys, 1 miniature horse, and their newest addition, a rescued wild mustang.
